About Kalanchoe x houghtonii 'Pink Butterflies'

Kalanchoe x houghtonii ‘Pink Butterflies’ is the variegatedvariegated A naturally occurring or viral induced mutation, which appears as stripes or whole sections of tissue that are without chlorophyll. Variegated varieties are often prized for the attractiveness of the markings caused by the mutation. version of K. delagoensis and  K. daigremontiana. It is a very sought after cultivar because of its beautiful pink plantlets that form on the edges of the leaves that look like tiny butterflies.

Sadly, the plantlets won’t propagatepropagate breed specimens of a plant by natural processes from the parent stock like taking stem cuttings, leaf cuttings or seeds if they are completely pink because they lack the chlorophyll needed to make energy. I have successfully propagated Kalanchoe x houghtonii ‘Pink Butterflies’ from stem cuttings though.

Do note that Kalanchoe x houghtonii ‘Pink Butterflies’ is very fragile and the tiny plantlets will fall off at the slightest touch. Shipping them will usually knock all of them off through no fault of the seller. No amount of protection will prevent them from coming off. Don’t worry though, as Kalanchoe x houghtonii ‘Pink Butterflies’ gets taller, more will form.

About Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi 'Lavender Scallops'

Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi ‘Lavender Scallops’ is one of my favorite fillers in my garden because it reproduces so quickly and grows fast! I usually take stem cuttings in the spring and fall, but it also propagates viviparously meaning plantlets form around the leaf margins.

Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi ‘Lavender Scallops’ needs lots of water in the summer growing season to keep up with its rapid growth and only a little water in the winter when the leaves start to shrivel.

Keeping Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi ‘Lavender Scallops’ in a container will keep this succulent small if container gardening is more your thing.

About Kalanchoe delagoensis 'Mother of Thousands'

Kalanchoe delagoensis AKA ‘Mother of Thousands’ gets its name from the seemingly thousands of plants that form on the tips of the leaves. That’s called viviparous propagation.

Another nickname for Kalanchoe delagoensis is ‘Chandelier Plant’ because it grows straight up when given enough light.

in my garden, I have a couple that are well over 2 feet tall. In some parts of the world, they’re considered an invasive weed, but I have mine planted in the ground and only one other plant has formed from plantlets.
